This talk explores how generative AI and industrial AI are driving innovation, improving efficiency, and transforming various sectors. Generative AI is making waves in creative fields by generating text, images, and even code, streamlining workflows and enabling new possibilities in media, design, and research. At the same time, industrial AI is enhancing operations in manufacturing, logistics, and other industries through predictive maintenance, real-time data analysis, and automation, leading to smarter decision-making and cost savings. While these technologies bring exciting opportunities, they also raise important questions about data privacy, ethics, and responsible implementation. As AI continues to evolve, businesses and policymakers must adapt to its growing influence. This session takes a closer look at the real-world impact of generative and industrial AI, exploring what lies ahead and how to navigate this rapidly changing landscape.

Description for Speaker:

Liang Kim Meng has 25 years of experience in working with video analytics and computer vision projects. His research interests include generative AI, deep learning, image processing and pattern recognition. He has published more than 20 papers in top journals and conferences. He has more than 50 filed intellectual property in MyIPO and PCT. In his past experience, he had developed and deployed human behaviour analysis solution to ensure the people safety in more than 100 lock-up centres and prisons in Malaysia. In Petronas, he was leading the computer vision domain group in Data Science. He enabled digital solution in various business portfolio that includes downstream, upstream and HSE related solutions. He led the Data Science team to develop an engineering visual analytics as a revolution technology for inspection industry. The solution transforms manual inspection to AI-powered visual analytics that had reduced the risk of inspector to perform inspection at hazardous area including at high and hard reach areas. At current, he is aspired to accelerate GenAI exploration into HSE solutions by developing an automated Vision AI in detecting Line of Fire events with the mission of zero safety incidents and fatalities.

Sri possesses extensive expertise as a skilled engineer, boasting five years of experience in Upstream operations and an additional 4 years in PD&T HSE as Technical Safety Engineer, 2 years as HSE Planning & performance engineer and 11/2 year as HSE Functional Lead in HSE Intelligence Pod.
Her journey at Petronas began with skills on Offshore Operations, Health Safety and Environment and currently on digital and technology applications.
She has also been a Citizen Analytics & Agile Methodology Project Management Practitioner with extensive knowledge on Petronas Working Backwards Innovation Journey.

Mohamad Amrizad Bin Ruslin, Senior Disability Management Specialist at SOCSO, has seven years of expertise in transforming disability management using advanced technologies. With a background in psychology from the University of Wales, Bangor, UK, Amrizad leads initiatives that integrate artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance disability case management. His pioneering research focuses on AI-driven solutions to optimize return-to-work strategies and rehabilitation pathways, significantly improving case efficiency. In today’s talk, Amrizad will discuss how PERKESO utilizes machine learning algorithms to predict and streamline interventions, revolutionizing the future of disability management in Malaysia.

Dr. Shamsul has over 25 years of experience in OSH & EMS and currently serves as EHS Director for the APMEA region at Kerry Ingredients. Holding a Ph.D. in Business Administration (OSH) from the University of Scandinavia, Denmark, he is a registered Safety & Health Officer and Lead Auditor for ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001. He has also contributed as Vice Chairman for FMM Johor Bahru and as a Board Director for NIOSH Malaysia. Dr. Shamsul actively develops environmental and sustainability reporting at Kerry and has led the company to win several prestigious awards, reflecting their commitment to sustainability and excellence.

He holds a degree in Electronics Engineering from Staffordshire University, UK, and the British Malaysian Institute. Ir. Drawing from her expertise in medical physics and radiation science, she advocates for AI-powered systems that enhance workplace safety, particularly in radiation prone industries. Her insights bridge scientific precision with practical OSH applications, paving the way for safer, smarter work environments.

Omar A. Rahman is an ISO and management systems specialist with over 20 years of experience across industries like manufacturing, healthcare, automotive, and more. He excels in implementing and auditing ISO standards and has extensive ESG consulting experience, aligning with the UN’s SDGs. Omar founded a training and consultancy firm, developed over 13 e-learning modules, and trained more than 200 organizations. In his seminar on “A.I for ISO Implementation and Internal Audit (ISOS),” Omar will discuss AI’s role in enhancing ISO processes, focusing on quality management, risk assessment, and ESG integration.

Syaheedullah, known as Sir Syah, is a certified trainer with a strong background in computer science, engineering, and education. He focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance workplace safety and efficiency. Sir Syah holds certifications including Train the Trainer (TTT) and Cyber Security, and has successfully conducted AI-related courses emphasizing practical applications. In his presentation, “Leveraging AI in Fostering Workplace Safety,” he will explore AI’s role in workplace safety, covering AI chatbots, AI-driven document analysis, and web applications for improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure employees are well-informed of safety protocols.
